Hi all,

I have a quick question regarding how CAESAR calculates SIFs for FRP pipe bends. I am using ISO14692 as a code check processor and I am investigating a buried 1.5D 90deg on a FRP pipeline.

In CAESAR, I am used to nominating a bend at node and letting the CAESAR calculate the stress intensification factors for me during its calculations. Normally in my extended stress reports I see the in-plane and out-of-plane SIFs in the output report and I can verify this against ASME piping code equations. However with FRP pipeline bend that I am modelling, CAESAR always seems to output SIFs of 1.0. I have a hard time believing this to be right. Is anyone able to enlighten me as to what is going on here?

I think I have answered my own question. It appears that the SIFs for the bend appear in the 'Miscellaneous Data' for bend in the output processor. So it appears they are being calculated and being taken into account. I am still confused as to why the stress reports won't display the SIFs though.
