Is it possible to convert a CII 2013 version back to CII 5.3? if so, could anyone explain how?
I have two calculations connected to each other done in different versions. our client insists to have all assessments done in 5.3

Thanks

Hi,

I had posted the same long back and the reply was "it is not backward compatible", so you have to remodel the piping system. With the previous versions, we used to convert the file to neutral file and tried to open the file in Caesar software with lower version, that time it worked well. But with recent versions, I think it is not possible.

Thanks

Hi,

I am also facing the same problem of converting CII 2013 to CII 5.31. I tried the option of neutral file conversion and open it in 5.31. It tells an error at SIF and gives a corrupted CAESAR II file.

Can COADE help us in this issue atleast in the neutral file to CAESAR II in old 5.31 version?

Input files are not downward compatible because we always add more data in the newer versions.

In my opinion, what you could do is to get familiar with CAESAR II Neutral File formats first. Read the section in User's Guide/Technical Reference Manual, both versions side by side.

And then, using CAESAR 2013, convert the input to 2013 Neutral File.
Using the knowledge of both versions of neutral files, convert the 2013 Neutral File into a 5.3 Neutral File. You may lose some data of course (e.g. 2013 options that are not available in 5.3). If you're planning to do lots of conversions, then you should write a simple program for it.
Once converted to 5.3 Neutral File, using CAESAR 5.3, convert it to a "dot C two" file.

The above will only convert your piping input, and will require some programming expertise. Otherwise, I'd say you'd have to model it again manually.

But per Richard, "It is dangerous to edit a neutral file in the hopes of moving to an earlier version of the software."

To avoid lot making confusion, better remodel and use it for analysis.
