Has anyone seen where the individual sub files (_.A, etc)don't get combined into the "C 2" file when exiting the input screen? Previously I have seen this if the program crashes, but we have one PC that is suddenly doing it all the time with the program otherwise closing normally. What would cause this?

The component files are not compressed back into the "c 2" archive until either:

a) you change jobs, or
b) quit CAESAR II completely

Think about this - if the job files were compressed when exiting the input, and then you wanted to jump to some other module, the files would have to be extracted again. For large jobs, this is a huge waste of time (that you would notice).

Was this a recent change? The .CAESAR II archive always used to be created when exiting (file > exit) from the piping input screen. We have two PC's, both have version 5.30.02, build 110830... one creates the .CAESAR II file when exiting the piping input and the other one doesn't. Is there some user setting that controls this?

The only control is the "Configuration Option", but that is used to turn off compression completely. Like I said above, you don't want compression to happen here, it will slow you down.
