Hi All,

Can anybody have any idea about stress analysis of very long synthetic rubber hose (with SS316 reinforcement )for bulk transfer from Boat to Topside wellhead platform ? Is it possibe to analyse ? as the hose will not transfer any force or moment through node to node.

Client is asking to evaluate the stresses and forces/moments that are experienced at the tie-in point when the hose in operation and at the stowage point when the hose is anchored at the mezzanine deck.
we have all process data for types of bulk transfer ( i.e for raw water, corrosion inhibitor, demulsifier, scale inhibitor).
If anyone have any guide line to design the hose, please share.(Attached file shows model snapsot of hose arrangement)

Dear Richard,

I have searched the forum before posting this topic. Every where the topic is about a small lenght of hose connected between pipe and nozzle and the short answer is ...'do not model the hose..leave the pipe as free end'.
In my case this is almost 100 m of hose and have supports at different locations ( plesae refer attached pdf drawing). Client is asking to ensure that hose will not break or damage during filling operation or stowage condition.
During stwowage, water wave will hit the hose. how we can evaluate the hose based on this external loading. In case any assesment can be done by using Caesar, let me know please.

You cannot analyze a hose with a 3D-beam element, which is the only element CAESAR II uses.

What is the purpose of analysis? You should be calulating the supporting loads, loads at terminal points and finally the radius is maintained as advised by the manufacturer.
