Hi All .

I am analysing the lines related tp Pig launcher .Do we have to consider pigging loads? Is ther is any guideline regarding the pipe size ,above which we need to consider pigging loads ?

I am already taking in to consideration Seismic and Blast case scenario in to consideration .

Kindly share your opinion on this topic .

Thanks

I have never considered any extra load for pigging, assuming that it is already considered in calculation of design pressure. cool

There should normally be no significant dynamics associated with pigging. However, you might need to consider the weight if you are dealing with 'intelligent' pigging equipment. These can be very heavy and may need consideration as a slowly moving load, similar to a truck on a bridge.

Dear experts:

I work in a pipeline stress analysis, how can I consider allowable loads or diplacements in connection flange, my mechanical department doesn´t have any idea about these values.

Any suggestions,

B. Regards.

Luis

There are various ways to deal with "skid" stress interfaces & there exists different opinions on the same too.

I generally prefer either of the following:

a) Model your system till the interface with vendor & pass the displacements at scope break flange to vendor so that the effects of your system will be taken care of in his skid analysis.

b) OR model the skid with some suitable assumptions (or with the skid GA ; if you have that) along with your scope piping & pass on the loads & moments on the scope break flange to vendor for his approval.

Also, refer attach this for some more light on this "touchy" topic.

Hope you've a good time breaking your head with the MECHANICAL DEPTT.
