Dear ALL,

my model is consists of partial underground pipe of only a 5meter. i feel that first support from buried line to be a fixed support. the rest of the pipe supports are sliding between steel to steel with friction of coefficient of 0.3 and sliding between teflon to teflon with friction coefficient of 0.1.

my question is how to give input in CaesarII for fixed support ?
is it +Y without any friction or Y without any friction or Y & X/Z without friction and gap?

please advise

Thanks & Regards

Baskar

Dear Jop,

With reference to the sketch the first support of Pig launcher is Fixed which is given by vendor and the second support is sliding support and also the there is a sliding support for the ball valve.

as i understand fixed support mean it is an anchor, i am worried that if i consider as an anchor the force and moments will be high at fixed support and whether it can withsatnd it or not?

Node : 24 Pig Launcher
Fx = -22273
Fy = -7576
Fz = 12385
MX = -2292
My = 843
Mz = 336

Node : 28 Pig Launcher

Fx = -58802
Fy = -12261
Fz = 55560
Mx = -1873
My = -33018
Mz = 5484

can i have axial stop beofre the fixed support?

please advise.

Thanks & Regards

Baskar

You could have an independent axial stop, that is commonly done. However the vessel saddle may be able to carry the axial stop loads.

You did not specify units in the loads you quote so I cannot help there.

Dear Moverz,

Sorry, the forces are in Newton (N) and the Moments are in Newton Meter (N.M)

Your routing doesn't require any axial stop and the configuration is common. The loads can be sent to vendor for verification. Check your soil model.
