A general piping query rather than a pipe stressing query but I am working on a project where we are installing over 50km of above ground cross country high temperature (up to approx 300 degrees C) piping and am looking into the availability of non-Aluminium cladding materials.

Due to large scale theft the client can lose up to 500m of cladding in a night, and hence we are looking for possible alternative cladding materials. The solution needs to be fairly easy to apply. We have considered FRP put it appears to be very expensive.

I have worked on projects where we have used concrete cladding but this could add significant loads to our piping system and given we are well under way with our piping design we are not too keen to have to redesign everything.

Can anyone recommend any products on the market that we could consider?

Regards
Karen

I guess that plastic cladding product are limited to internal, or wheather and temperature.

The other cladding materials might be to use are stainless sheets or galvanised/colorbond iron sheets. Stainless might have the same end similar to aluminum and expensive (thinner steets might be cost effective).

The best is to use galvanised or colorbond sheets intead.

In case the people takes them away to use them for making roof sheeting for their homes, non of those options above will work.

Hope it helps,

You guessed right Ibrahim, those products would very quickly become domestic building materials, so I am looking around for some sort of tape that can be wrapped, or something that could be applied by brush like a paint.

I think your client should come up with their solution in this case, or give the people what they want first, and educate them about what can happen if the insulation tears away.

If the heat conservation is not the problem you may be able to use perforated sheets, for personal protection without insulation, which may not be used as a building material. However this may be restricted to the sandy climate and it may be a sand accumulator in the cavity provided.

Good luck and kind regards,
