Hello,

I’m a french stress engineer using Caesar II v5.3 build 101122. My colleague has a problem with the piping input function. It’s not possible to use the “Read Now” function when you put “Y” in replacement of “N”.
It happens always when he wants to include an input piping file originaly created with Caear 5.1 in a file created with Caesar 5.3. Sometimes it happens when you use two originals 5.3 files... there is no real rule.

Note that in all cases, node numbers are differents on the two files.

The error message deals with issues of unit files, saying these of the two files are different, whereas they are not.

The message is : ERROR -- Units incompatibility with file "File Name"

Do you know if there is a simple solution to our problem, because we don’t really want to make rework with these 5.1 models, as you can understand !

Thank you very much for your help.

I have not tried this function on 5.3 but ...since file structures in different versions of Caesar IIare not the same, you could have problems as a result. For example, 5.3 carries more information about insulation than previous issues, and that new data adds to the file size, number of entities etc.

I suggest that you read all your files into 5.3 and save them from there. I suspect you will then be able to read / include as previously. Good luck.

Benjamin,

MoverZ is correct, both (all) included files need to be the same vesion. Take each file, copy it into the 5.30 working directory, bring it up in the Input and Error Check it. Then go back to the main job and perform the "include" operations.

If this doesn't work, or you still have issues, contact Technical Support via e-mail (and attach the job files), so we can sort things out.

I have the same problem and it is driving me crazy. I can´t include 2 CAESAR 5.3 Files. It brings up the error, units incompatibility. I´m wasting so much time trying to do this.
A solution, Pease??

If the "included job" has uniform loads defined, this operation will not work. You'll have to wait for the 1st build (patch).

The "build" is in testing now, when we're satisfied we'll release it.

Did you already release the patch you talked about?

Yes, this was released. Go to the "Download Page" on this site and download: "CAESAR II 2011 SP1". Note that next week I expect to release Service Pack 2, so you might want to wait a few days.
