I have several header rings I need to stress, but I need to model them first. I was thinking of using elbows that tangent into a tee or a hanger. Will CII accept this and stress it okay? I ask becuase I'm going to have to draw them in AutoCad to compute the node points.

I too have a ring header with pipes attached to it at odd angles, going towards centre (like wheel spokes). I could model the header, create nodes at the desired location. However, when elements are added at the nodes to be generated (at the required angles), the program does not give correct orientation. As such, the new elements are not located radially. There appears to be some problem. Will somebody help me.

Actually, I am struggling for the last one week to model it, without the desired result.

There is a ring header example in the download area.

Thank you Mr. Richard,

I could generate ring header without any problem. My area of concern is generation of node at a particular angle and using the same to place another element, starting from this node. For ex. in a 90 degree elbow, we can generate nodes at 22.5, 45 and 67.5 degrees, as per the user manual. However, when I use the same nodes for placing elements or hangers or supports, I observe that the nodes are not generated at these angles but at 11.25, 33.75 and 56.25. These nodes are nothing but the TI points of bend elements.

Now, my question is: Is there any option that I need to exercise to generate nodes exactly at the required angle?

Request: Any user may throw some light on the topic.

Thanks and regards,
S. RAGHAVA CHARY

There is no such option to assist with this.

How are we placing the supports etc. at a location? Many users would have used the option to generate a node at some angle and placed a support. It may be incorrect.

Supports must be placed at node points.

In the piping input module, the postion of the auxiliary bend nodes is not known or determined. This why any supports or attached piping at those nodes plots at the TIPT (tangent intersection point). The actual 3D coordinates of these auxiliary bend nodes are determined by the Error Checker.
