Dear all,

I had analysed a system considering both design and operating parameters.I observed that the support loads are more in operating compared to design. My questions are below,

1.Support loads are to be taken in design or operating condition?

2.Any ASME code gives explaination for the above question?

3.Sometimes it is difficult to control the nozzle allowables while considering the design parameters.

Any experts kindly advise me for the above clarifications.

Thanks in advance

You should talk to your process group and understand the reason for the difference between the design and operating temperatures. If it is just a generic contingency then you can take your loads based on operating.

The code does not dictate whether you use design or operating temps / press for flexibility analysis. The code leaves it up to the engineer, which is why you need to make an educated decision by talking to your process group.
