I have read CII's manual about Allowable space for spring hanger/can. But I can't understand the purpose of this function. How does it effect to the spring selection? Is there any one give me some guideline ?

This information tells you how much space above/under pipe you need to install spring/can. This space doesn't affect spring constant or load, this is only for dimensional check and installation purpose.

Does CII perform the checking procedure or we do it by ourself ?

The hanger selection module in Caesar is a routin that not only calculates hot or cold load and displacement, but has a "small" database of many hanger's vendors. So if for example you choose a particular brand, let's call it Donald Duck ltd, Caesar will choose a spring, and then it will compare its dimension with the Allowable space you could set. If the dimension of spring + attachment it's smaller than the allowable space, in the output you could find the exact model you need.

I have one question regarding this

In hanger output report there is written at end "Recommended installation clearance " . From where its value come , i have gone through anvil catalog , it so not mention for B-268 Figure.???

Engr_mech, to determine installation clearance you need to think about the physical space the spring takes up, the Anvil catalogue shows this.

I am sure your experienced colleagues will be more than happy to sit down with you and go through the catalogue drawings.
