Hi. I just want to ask if we still need to consider the occasional effects(like wind and seismic) on pump loads or just checking the stresses will be enough. I just asked because i cant find any topic about occasional effects on API610 or other related standards on pumps. If we need to consider these occasional effects on nozzle loads are the allowable values can be increased?

Many thanks
ELI

Hi Eli
Generally pump nozzle load is checked against normal operating case.
Obviously occasional load should not be too high than allowable.
Some individual/organization follow thumb rule of 50% more that allowable to cross check occasional load case.
