You can use a rod restraint to model the hanger rods.

Since you have two clamped pipes on this support, they may interact. You may want to model both in your analysis.

If there is significant displacement of the piping, which moves the hanger axially, laterally, or both, and the rods are relatively short, it may be important to the long term success of the hanger to achieve its intended purpose, that the detail of the connection of the rod at the top and bottom connections be reviewed.

It appears that the top of the rod may have a pivot point in the axial direction (though the detail shows the pin in the axial view, too). It also appears that there is no pivot at the bottom connection.

If the piping experiences considerable thermal cycling, fatigue may be high at the top and bottom rod connections.

Dear John

You have to model as Y restraint (where Y is vertical) without friction. The following to be checked at output

1. Make sure this support or other support (which is also support from this rod hanger) is not lifting. Lifting of support causes buckling of rod hanger.

2. Axial travel of the rod hanger should be checked for 4 Deg criteria. Based on axial movement of the pipe, you have to calculate angular travel between centre of the pipe to hinge on the top. And angular travel shall be ess than 4 Deg.

Best regards
