I hv a pipeline that distribute diesel from tanker ship 10000 DWT to a tanker with capacity 5000 KL. I want to analyze the load n stress at outlet nozzle tank but after the nozzle we have a gate valve and then flexible joint. When i read a discussion in this forum that it is not necessary to model it in Caesar, just stop there at the flex.joint, it makes me thinking so how can i analyzed the nozzle load? Can someone give me an input about this....thanks. Regards Tengku Syahdilan

no, not like that friend. using Caesar u can easy to model flexible joint. just u choose expansion joint and introduce all zeros. it is the easy procedure to model flexible joint. and then u want to calculate nozzle load. do u have Vendor data sheet for flexible hose.because in those data sheet they clearly mentioned about ur flexible hose movement. u can key in the value in displacement field. and start ur anlaysis.

Hi priyan

"choose expansion joint and introduce all zeros"
Is equivalent to exclude hose from analysis.

Analyzing hose is beyond caesar scope.you can ignore it, leave your calculation before hose connection. Put proper rest+guide support before hose because some horizontal force is also expected for hose handling.

hi shr,

one of my engineer want to know the flexible hose movement also. the flexible hose is carry on very heavy mud. the length is more than 15m.

For this case how can i give suggestion.

Flexible hose is also look like a spring. why we r not going to introduce a
low stiffness simple type of expansion bellow.

If i am thinking wrong please correct me

Hi Priyan
That is the beauty of flexible hose.
It do not transfer force & moment from one point of piping connection to other point connection. It also take care of pressure thrust. So there is no need to consider in piping caesar model.

It is suggested to leave pipe stress upto hose connection . Put an anchor support there, at least (hold down+guide).

Another point of hose is free to move depends on available length of hose.
If any doubt consult with hose vendor.

Regards

Habib
