hi
Can any one tell me what is the difference between strut and limit (axial) stop.

because i am doing stress analysis of compressor piping & some one told me that strut is more often use in compressor piping.

ok

Hi Shamaliabhavin
Limit stop or axial stop a support means blocking axial movement of a pipe. You can make it by any conventional type of company standard pipe support arrangement.
Rigid strut is a special support to block both side movement of a pipe is any particular direction.
Rigid strut can be used to make zero gap guide support or zero gap axial stop support.
Yes rigid strut is preferred for compressor support ( some support close to compressor nozzle )
Two advantages of rigid strut
1) it offer exact zero gap support
2) Co efficient of friction for guide/axial stop is zero (µ =0)
With conventional type of supporting it is really difficult to ensure exact gap on support & friction of that support also create problem for nozzle load.
So it is preferred to use rigid strut.
