Is it possible to programmatically replace an extended file, e.g. the *._J files in a *.C2 file, with a new one? We need to make a batch subtitution of revised load cases in quite a few files and would prefer to do this without manual intervention to minimize the risk of errors.

Version 5.10 has an [Import Load Case] option, just to the right of the load case list. Use that - you're right, it is much safer.

That is, ahem, not quite what I am looking for smile. The immediate task involves 90 different files which would be tedious and thus error prone to open one at a time. Later stages are likely to involve considerably more files than that, making the task even more daunting. What I was hoping for was a method to infuse and replace the load cases batch wise without having to open each project. I guess my question could be read as: Is the .C2 file format open and documented somewhere? I don't mind having to open Caesar but I do aim at opening it only once.

I am currently forming the architecture for a large scale data integration project where Caesar is bound to be included in some not too distant future. That too might create the need for an API even if it is not directly connected with the current task.

It is dubious that you really will have the same load cases in 90 files because they would have to be set up with the exact same loads (do all the files have spring hangers, do they have the same number of operating temperatures, do they all have hydrotest, etc.) and use the exact same units and piping code (this determines how you use combination load cases). However, we can help you set up a batch file to do what you want. Write to techsupport@coade.com and we will assist you in this effort.

I am not saying that the load cases are identical. What I am saying is that we need to change load cases on 90 models. That is definitely not the same thing.

So in 90 models then every load case will be somewhat unique? Then why do you need a batch replacement method?

I do not understand the need for what your trying to accomplish? Please provide an example of what you have in mind?
