Dear all,

I have recently started work on structural piping and having a small problem with the following Load card parameters: From, To, By. If any1 can explain them to me i'd be grateful.

From / To identify the element that you are loading. The "By" value is only used if you plan on generating additional eement loads from this (current) one. This is explained in the "help text".

ok thanks but suppose i want to add a force at a single point... meaning i have a c-beam extending from node 1-5 then from 5-10 and i want to add a force of 1000 N in the +Y direction then what would the parameters from/to by be...

what i did was only enter from 5, to (nothing), by (nothing) then the value of the force

You command would look like this:

LOAD 5, ,,,1000

If you're manually creating the file, you need the "commas" to skip over the empty fields. If you're using the interface, it will do this for you.
