Friends,
I’m modeling a non splitter aircooler header. Since the inlet is at a different temperature from the outlet, what temperature should I use to model the header? I would tend to think the average temperature would be the most suitable, but there’re opinions that suggest the header should be model: inlet temperature for the inlet header and outlet temperature for the outlet header. How can this be an accurate model if it’s same header with an internal plate that separates the inlet from the outlet?

Reinaldo,

I think that any header would be considered as a single line in the process line list. The line list should contain the Max/Min Design pressures and temperatures.
With respect to your ambient temperature, the temperature which has the greatest "delta T" should be input in your CAESAR II model.
Thereby analysing the worst case.
Hope this helps.
Do correct me if im wrong.

Regards

As you know the max thermal expansion for an aircooler is when you put for inlet, inlet and for outlet, outlet temprature.

Mathematically, modeling all of the air cooler piping at the average of the inlet and outlet temperatures and modeling half the piping at the inlet temperature and the other half at the outlet temperature gives the same average temperature.

But using two different temperatures for your air cooler headers will generate internal stresses within the air cooler that have some validity. So it's probably right to do it this way rather than using an average temperature and blurring all this out.
