I got following error during the slug flow dynamic analysis:
"The "static load case number", (the second item on the control parameter spreadsheet), points to a spring design load case. The first 2 load cases in the static job are spring design load cases."
If hangers in the model are deleted, the job continue to run.
What's this mean? Can anybody give me a tip?
Regards!

Hi Gu ,

If you press 'F1' in the parameter field you will get the help notes which I am sure will indeed help you.
In the present case , I think you need to choose the correct load case for the automated linearisation to be done.

Good Luck.

If hanger sizing is part of your static analysis, load cases 1, 2 and maybe 3 (if you wish CAESAR II to calculate "actual" cold loads) are preliminary analyses used to size those hangers. These load cases should not be referenced in setting the state (active/inactive) of the system's nonlinear conditions in the dynamic analysis. If you have hanger design in your static analysis, this error message is proper. You should perhaps point to the operating case (Load Case #3?) to set the nonlinears for the dynamic analysis.

If you Point to Load Case #1 with hanger sizing in the static analysis but then remove the hanger sizing from the static analysis, reset the load cases, and rerun the job; then Load Case #1 is probably the operating load case and it is available to set the nonlinear restraint status. (Boy, that is a long sentence.)

Thank you for reply
The problem is solved as follows:
1. Static calculation with two typical hanger load cases.
2. Enter the Spring Rate and the Theoretical Cold Load,
which are results of Step 1, in the Predefined Hanger Data fields.
3. Static calculation without any hanger load case.
4. Dynamic slug flow analysis based on step 3.
