When will we get Caesar-II Ver 5.00 with
EN-13480 compatibility? Our clients are
asking for it.

We expect DIN standard material databases &
pipe sizes (diameter & thickness)in the new version of Caesar II.

Richard Ay to please answer, as we expect
some positive news from him to satisfy our
clients.

regards,

sam

Version 5.00 is currently in "beta test", and we are cleaning up the last few items. When testing is complete, and we have no loose ends, we'll release it for general usage.

Thanks to Richard Ay for the response.

As a bridge arrangement, please provide us some write-up comparing ASME B 31.3 Vs EN-13480 sustained, expansion & occasional load stress conformance criteria so that with Caesar II Ver 4.4/4.5 & ASME B 31.3 code conformance we can proceed with meeting EN-13480 code requirements till Version 5.00 will be made available for general use. As a faithful users of Caesar-II, I expect M/s Coade to support us in this matter.

regards,

sam

Sam,

I too, am looking forward to seeing how Caesar II
Handles EN13480

I think it is very difficult to truly harmonize EN13480 with B31.3 (we tried it)

EN13480 is esentially a different beast to B31.3

Dont forget that B31.3 is only a voluntary code, But EN13480 is ZA harminised and is mandatory for
PED compliance, which is law in Europe.
However, as rightly pointed by Dave in Jan 2004
a Large amount of pipework within Europe falls
into the SEP catagory and as such B31.3 is accepted as a validated design procedure.

I Hope that COADE does not comprimise in its
attempt to encompase EN13480. and i would
wonder how difficult it has been to use the current platform to do this.

I would doubt if the 'bridge' is possible.

Regards

Dear Friends,

Is it possible to use BS-806(1993) code conformance of Caesar II 4.50/4.40 version for BS EN-13480-3-2002 code conformance till version 5.00 of Caesar-II will be made available for general use?

If I want to use BS-806 code conformance, please help me in inputting material allowable stress property data in Caesar II 4.50/4.40 version. References in Caesar II quick reference guide & technical reference manual are not enough, it seems.

regards,

sam

If your insistance of using EN13480 is because it is the only code recognised by PED then i would
a)wait for Caesar release 5
b)Use a program with En13480 compatabillity
c)Employ (Very)good piping/PED engineers to harmonise Your EN13480 requirements with an established platform such as Caesar to the satifaction of your 3rd party inspectors such as LOYDS.(which we did and it proved to be an extremely painfull (and costly)process.)

Regards.

Ps. I am always suprised as to how little discusion is aimed towards PED/EN13480 on this forum. I assume that this is due to the majority of European Design houses using the SEP(sound Engineering Practice)Clause of PED and therefore
using B31.3 for the majority of the low Temp/Press
Pipework.
