It's even harder (no, it's damn near impossible) to convince them that the a line that sees, say, 15 psig steam at 750 F for steamout and then operates at 900 psig, 400 F, should NOT have design conditions of 900 psig, 750 F.

Or that there's any economic advantage to putting a relief valve in a pump discharge line where the operating point is 1800 psig and the pump shutoff head is 2750 psig. Or even, once you DO convince them to put the relief valve in, to CHANGE THE LINE DESIGN PRESSURE to the relief valve set point +3%.

Another wonderful thing - Chem E's and their last-second material changes. Don't they understand that all the stress runs have to be re-done if you change the damn material? Don't they understand that this can't be done in a couple of hours?

Even worse, don't they realize that vessels that may already be on order may have to be changed?

kvetch, kvech, kvetch..........I hope the spring hangers are on "hold"...........well at least it will give you a chance to have the vessel OEM add reinforcing pads to the vessels to accomodate the new (higher magnitude) loadings resulting from the greater alpha caused by the material change. Now then, what'll we do about the flange loadings.....lessee, where can I get some room for another expansion loop....

Thats the beauty of this lunacy, everything was issued for construction prior to the new numbers!!!

I'm putting a report together about what thgey need to do to get to the higher numbers!!!!
