Hi All,

I want to convert one file of CAESAR-II 5.3 version to CAESAR-II 5.2 version. So for that i need it to convert in neutral file.

Conversion of 5.3 version file in to Neutral file has been done successfully, but during conversion of Neutral file to 5.2 version some error is coming as :- "" Error processing ELEMENT section, line # 66 "".

and so file of 5.3 version has not converted in 5.2 version..Kindly provide me the solution for the above problem.

Waiting for your replies!!

Ashutosh

5.3 version have some extra lines so 5.2 do not know what to do.

If you have a text editor and you delete the line #65, you will be able to go further.

Then you will receive about the same message for every element you have because of an extra row of 0.00000

If you have patience enough, manualy delete one zeroes row per element.

Then you will have to delete the line above the following line:

#$ RIGID

and then the line

#$ EQUIPMNT

And maybe are other things to be investigated.

Short answer: you can not convert 5.3 to 5.2

Read the Distribution Letter (at the front of the Quick Reference Guide in Version 5.30) - which clearly states that files are not downward compatible. This is not new, we've stated this forever.

Newer versions include more data that is unknown to earlier versions. Attempting to move to an earlier version would mean we would have to dump this data - based on what version your moving from/to. Then we would have to justify why data was dumped.

This is not a problem, this is something you just shouldn't do.

Rather than moaning about this issue, which is the subject of many posts, you guys should have your employer pay the annual maintenance and support fee and get your copies of Caesar II up to date. That way you will have all the correct allowable stress values etc. etc. etc., and all the new software features that Rich Ay and his colleagues have devoted their professional lives to creating.
