Covergence problem Incore Solver - 03/25/13 07:24 AM

Hi All,

Can any one explain to me this message that I got in Incore Solver:

NODE 1020 DIR 0.000 -1.000 0.000
OLD STATE CLOSED NEG
NEW STATE OPEN

I got this message when I was calculating a line with a tied expansion Joint. The node 1020 is the end of the tie rod (1020-1030)

It's an ordinary tie Rod with restraints:

1020 (Z, Guide, +LIM)
1030 (Z,Guide,-LIM)

The problem appear to be caused by The +LIM or -Lim restraints cause When I changed to LIM (without +/-) I got a result but the Pressure Thrust effect was not supported by the tie rod

The explanation of the message is:

Line 1: Shows that node 1020 is changing state between two successive iterations. The (0, -1, 0) indicates the direction cosine of the restraint.

Line 2: Shows that in the previous itertaion the restraint was active, i.e. the pipe was agains the restraint.

Line 3: Shows that in the current iteration the restraint is inactive, i.e. the pipe moved off of the restraint.

You can find a lot of information here on the "Convergence" issue, just search on the work "convergence".
