i am doing the pipeline stress analysis for the condensate pipeline with design code as ASME B31.4. The parameters are mentioned below :
API 5L X60, T1=90deg C, T2=5 Deg C, 8 inch pipeline buried pig traps facility. Here after analysing i found that the operating stress for the T1 is passed but for T2 i.e 5deg C it shows NO CODE STRESS CHECK PROCESSED::
so i would like to have suggestion from the members on this , what could be the reason that Operating stress for T1 passed while the T2 not .. IS there anything to update the materials properties.?

Do a search on this forum or read the quick reference guide and you will see that it depends on whether the pipe is axially restrained or not.

Material data base have the material properties upto -20deg.

So ASME B31.4 will have only expansion criteria for the calculating the operatting stresses???

B31.4 only provides an operating code stress check if the pipe is in compression. If the pipe is in tension no code stress check is permitted.
